We love to go back and find some of the most iconic women of all time wearing pearls!

Today’s feature is an American Jazz legend.

The late, Billie Holiday is a woman known for her melodious voice, gorgeous face, and her beautiful signature of flowers that she wore in her hair. We think she is a great addition to our “Great Moment in Pearl History” because she made pearls a sophisticated and stylish statement in her jazzy look.

Eleanora Fagan, most commonly known as Billie Holiday and nicknamed “Lady Day” by friend and musical partner, Lester Young, was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She later died in   New York City, New York, United States on July 17, 1959 at the age of 44. read more

Although the pearl trend was not seen during the 2014 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 18th in Las Vegas, Nevada but here are a few “pearls” that we deemed gorgeous and so very stylish. The red carpet was filled with many great celebrities and we have gathered a list of some of very best dressed.

Jennifer Lopez looked stylish and sensual in this long Donna Karan dress. Bold and furious, this red and flowing sheer and bodysuit style made JLo look like a breath of fresh air. We also loved the up-do hairstyle because it made the look goddess friendly. read more

Janelle Monae showed up and showed out when she attended the Chanel Cruise 2015 Collection in Dubai decked out in large statement pearls!

Although she wore her traditional black-and-white color scheme and favorite updo, she kept her style unique be adding a cube ring with three massive pearls, pearl earrings, a pearl brooch and Chanel’s signature pearl headphone necklace.

PEARL FASHION: Natural Pearl Earrings Sell for Over $3 Million Dollars at Doyle New York Auction House

Pearls can bring you much more worth than its beauty, especially when you can sell them for over $3 million dollars.

According to numerous sources including Diamonds.net and Forbes.com, on April 28th, Doyle New York Auction House claims to have set a record for the most spent on a rare pair of natural pearls when they sold a set of pearl earrings at their “Auction of Important Jewelry” for a staggering $3,301,000.

The earrings beat out the previous auctioned pearls including, Sotheby’s Geneva who sold a pair of natural pearls from the collection of Gina Lollobrigida for $2.4 million in 2013, as well as Christie’s New York sale of the collection of Elizabeth Taylor in 2011 which sold for $1.99 million. read more

As we stated multiple times, pearls are no longer just for your mother and we found that Zack Dobbins, from Gulfshorelife.com totally agrees!

Dobbins wrote an article entitled, “Style File: Not Your Mother’s Pearls”, which explains his thoughts and opinions on how pearls are for the chic and fashionable youth as well!

NYMAG.com, “The Cut” did a really interesting interview with jewelry designer, Dana Lorenz, in 2010 and we just had to revisit it.

What caught our attention about the interview? It was definitely Dana’s unique and interesting concept of pearls and how she makes it complement her style and artistic view. Instead of the classic way of wearing pearls she opts for barbed wire!

Dana Lorenz is known as the “pretty-punk” jewelry designer whose work has be worn by A-list celebrities including First Lady Michelle Obama. She has also worked with famous brands including, J.Crew and Barneys. read more
